- Description
- -----------
- This is VWorlds v3.0 (26/10/96), an update to v2.1 with many new features
- (e.g. artificial earth satellite positions, more planetary moons, space
- probe trajectories and more!)
-
- Main features
- -------------
- o Accurate numerical ephemeris giving planetary/lunar/solar positions to an
- accuracy of a few seconds of arc.
-
- o Realistic rendering of all major solar system bodies (Sun, Moon, planets,
- selected comets & satellites). The solar system can be viewed from a point on
- any of these objects, not just the Earth.
-
- o Texture-mapped images of the Earth, Moon and Mars when viewed from another
- body, with shading of night/twilight zones.
-
- o Scalable projected map of the world showing shaded night/twilight zones,
- position of observer and location of Moon's umbra and penumbra during solar
- eclipses.
-
- o Orrery, showing positions and orbits of planets and comets from any point
- with respect to the Sun.
-
- o Customizable comet and artificial satellite databases. The position of all
- the objects entered into the database is calculated and their position displayed.
-
- o Plotting of all stars down to magnitude 8.0 from the SAO catalogue, with
- proper motion information.
-
- o Accurate prediction of 'special events'---solar/lunar eclipse, full/new moon,
- Mercury/Venus conjunction, Mars opposition, lunar occultation etc.
-
- o Shading of Milky Way region.
-
- o Constellation outlines and names.
-
- o Overlaid annotated grids (horizon, equatorial and ecliptic coordinate
- systems).
-
- o Selectable viewport orientation (horizon, equatorial or ecliptic systems).
-
- o Shading of sky region below horizon.
-
- o Continuous update and accelerated time modes for animations.
-
- o Easy to use GadTools interface.
-
- o It's Public Domain. You get a fully-functioning program!
-
- Requires an Amiga computer with...
- ----------------------------------
- o 256 colour intuition screen (some gfx cards may work, but there are known
- problems with CyberGfx).
-
- o at least 8 Mb free RAM (1 Mb chip / 7 Mb fast).
-
- o WB 3.0 (or better).
-
- o 68020 (or better).
-
- o Hard disk drive with at least 5 Mb free space.
-
- Recommended
- -----------
- o Floating point unit.
-
- o Multiscan monitor.
